This set of works was designed as a college project focused on creating a complete set of design assets which work together as a complete marketing campaign. We were placed on teams of three and tasked with choosing with a social issue, which we then turned into a mock non-profit business' marketing campaign. For our project, my teammates and I decided to focus on pollution and its harmful effects on the environment, and designed several environmental and social media assets which could be used for such a campaign. We decided on the name AS IT IS, a reference to the way things are right now with the looming threat of climate change, and designed a simple logo which represents both a tree, a symbol of nature, and the concept of upcycling or reusing waste, tenets of environmental activism.
The first three designs are environmental place ads which could ideally be placed on a surface and later removed if necessary, as large form stickers. These would undoubtedly be eye-catching, and would hopefully have a positive impact on the aesthetic qualities of a college campus, making it feel more alive than plain walls and surfaces, a subtle callback to the decorative and informative placement of material in primary and secondary school halls.
The next five designs are for social media, integrating with the theme of the physical designs to share useful information about plastic waste and the steps that can be taken on an individual level to help reduce that waste. The social media would also serve as a connector between climate conscious individuals who are invested in the mission of AS IT IS across spaces, especially if these designs were to be placed across different college campuses and social spaces, with the goal of turning AS IT IS into a more global movement.
